LOvelY FindS

{The name of paint on this piece can be found here}

I'm excited to explore some vintage shops this weekend. Just looking for fun... which is the best because thats usually when I find something I want/need. When I actually am shopping for something in particular I can never find it. Life is funny that way. Never easy. I just realized that I have this discussion a lot with customers that come into Dear Lizzie.

This little piece is a.m.a.z.i.n.g.
I would love it to be part of our home or something similar.

Do you have any favorite shops to find lovely treasures like this?
If so point me in that direction!

tHe BEd

I have a decorating question for anyone interested in giving advice.
Do you think it looks better putting nothing on the wall above a headboard, like so...

Or would you say something above gives it a pinch of magic?

I have spent the last entire week totally rearranging every room in our place. I always seem to get a little ADD in January due to the new year and new goals. In the past I usually would just move to feel ready to take on and perfect life. That probably sounds a little eccentric, but it always helped me to straighten out "life". Obviously that's not in the bag for me anymore so I'm changing everything around me that I have control of... our home being one of them. I'm almost finished.
Just ran into this little problem.

I'm a bit ridiculous when it comes to wrapping presents for under the tree. One might say I'm a little o.c.d. in that area. I have to have them all matching in colors {this year was black, white, and red} and the ribbon, bows, and tags usually requires a lot of detail and dedication. Totally worth it though. This year has been my favorite in the wrapping department. The tree on the left is my moms. I love real trees and hope to some day have that as a Densley family tradition. Going out and chopping one down. For now I will keep with my two little pencil trees.

I always love Christmas Eve dinner. For some reason I have always been in charge of setting the table for this occasion and I just love it. We always use my parents "good" china. I can't wait for the day that I have that option. It makes the evening feel so special. I thought it was cute when my Grandma asked if she should go put her skirt on. I already know that when we have kids I will be making them wear dresses. We both love dressing up for the heck of it.
The menu:
cheese ball
poppy seed salad
prime rib
rolls
twice baked potatoes
corn
blueberry cheesecake

the BeST

The other night I spent the whole evening in our rockin blue kitchen.
I felt like being a little homemaker, so away I went with cooking.

After making a some taco soup I attempted, yet again, a different gluten free bread recipe.
(p.s. my bread is rising under the chicken towel on the counter in the pic)

The results are in and....

BEST recipe I have ever found! I finally like bread again.
It was a successful night to say the least.

For all you gluten free people out there email me for the recipe if you are interested.

I thankful for my 4-H years of cooking & sewing.
I prefer baking over cooking.
I love trying new recipes.

{the Densley family room}

This week has been busy with packing up our cherished little home and moving it else where. It's one of those bitter sweet things...

On the one hand we are very excited for the change and adventures ahead of us.
On the other hand my heart as been planted in our first home together. A part of it will probably always stay with in it's walls.

P.s. We have everything moved out but our mattress, TV, clothes, and food. Lets just say that our mattress found it's way into the family room last night and Mr Denz and myself stayed up watching friends until the wee hours of the night. It made me pretty happy to say the least.

One of my most favorite sounds is the ticking of a clock. I know for most people it is annoying as ever, but not for me. My wonderful Dad has made clocks by the dozen way before I even entered this world. Every Christmas he would make my beautiful mother a new clock to display in our house {in which he also built}. You can imagine the noise with the 40 plus clocks going off every hour. I loved it. Today as I was rearranging some decor around the house I stopped and listened to our own clocks. It made me happy.

{my favorite room in Annie's house in Liberty}

I was reminded that I'm a girl that likes to be my own, unique person. I have always been like this, but I seem to have forgotten that for a little while. When I was growing up {which in my eyes I still am} I never wanted to be like anyone else but myself. For example...whatever brand name was in-style that year I made it a point to never, ever wear it. I wanted to make anything and everything I could because then I knew it would be one of a kind. I never gave my mind a chance to even consider what the world thought of me. Sadly, I have been missing that part of me as of late. You can call it a little lack of self confidence perhaps or being a part of the blogging world. But good news I was reminded by my very inspiring Aunt {without her even knowing} that I'm a Sydney Jan. I like to be as different as I dare be. It makes me happy. It makes me confident. So therefore, life is good!

Yesterday the Husband and I decided to get out of the house and take a little trip to the DI. My cute dad sent me on a mission there a few days last week to check out prices on a certain clock he was wanting, and I kinda became addictive to the place. I was so thrilled to actually find something that I just had to have. This little blue antique wardrobe closet called out to me and I didn't dare ignore it.

Welcome to the Densley residence!

Why do I love the month of October so much? Good question.
1. I enjoy decorating around the house, so when any holiday comes around I enjoy bringing that spirit into my home. Halloween is a fav to decorate for because of the fun colors that I normally would never use...oranges, and purples, and greens oh my!

The hubby and I attended the newly opened Draper Temple. For those of you who have been into the glorious anthropology store just image that, but better! Oh, how I loved the Chandliers. Next item on my list of wishful purchases.

ATTENTION! Small, white brick wall in bedroom in need of a dash of color. Blue dominate color to work with. Hopes for a pinch of green to accent blue. Ideas welcome. Inspiration credited to picture above. Husband dreading yet another task that will most likely require his help. LOVE YOU.

ConFeSSion

I have a bad habit of being 5 minutes late to everything due to trying to decide on an outfit for the day. Sad, but so true... just ask my husband. I made it my project for the day to organize my closet as best as I could so that I will shed a few minute to be out the door sooner. Color coordinated right down to the accessories. Good luck to me!

Holiday Cheer

How fun to come home to a house with Christmas lights! Adam sure knows how to continue making me fall even more in love with him. I had so much fun decorating our two little trees. Thanks to my Aunt Carol and her girls I found some cute black and white orniments...and what's a tree without feathers!

My next little project was to make name tags for our socks. I got this idea from my sweet mother. Really easy and super cheap!

My childhood holidays were consumed with Nutcracker performances, so needless to say I collected about one every year as well. I received my last one when I was a senior in high school which left me with a total of 14 dolls. They have know taken over our house! Attending the ballet during this season is pretty much the one gift I hope for every year. Thus far I have been a lucky girl!

I have to admit... I'm starting to lose sleep because I'm so excited for the big day!!

Our House

So for the Past few weeks we've been making our place a home. This was the first room we attacked, the pictures we'll speak for themselves. Plus of course I'll put in my two cents about each pic.
Me Painting... The color is called Rye Green, we love it.
The love of my life painting...
Us having pretty much nothing, my mother-in-law was nice enough to give us this wicker furniture that was in her basement. So me being my mothers daughter had to paint it.
Me with my bandanna getting high as a kite.
My mom gave me this red piece when i left for college and its being put to good use.
This is the wicker end table finished. Its dark brown and i put some scrapbook paper underneath the glass to give it my own touch.
Being my Fathers Daughter i have a love for clocks as shown here. The chair i painted a ivory color.
This is Adams favorite piece. Believe it or not it was his idea to paint it pink, put some white lace around it and fill it with girlie Paris pictures. Isn't he the greatest? I'm being sarcastic of course. He still hasn't come to terms with the pink coffee table.
My mom and Ann made this little memorial of our wedding out of an old antique window. I love it and it was the perfect final touch to our family room. I had no idea what to put on this wall. Notice the rag quilt over the couch, my mom made that as a wedding gift for us, the colors tied everything together.
The picture frame on the wall are pics from our honeymoon. Good times...
Look forward to seeing the bathroom and the Dining area that are currently under construction.
